What has already been done?
From all over the world, members of society has already started taking action to help stop texting and driving and to increase its awareness. To begin with, on the roads, there are signs that say to stop texting and driving. There is a picture of one below.
In addition, experiments have been conducted to record teen's reactions when they are texting and driving. For example, in Belgium, drivers took their driving test, and they had to prove that they could text and drive successfully to pass, but it was a trick! Also, laws have been established across the United States considering texting and driving;
- 39 states (and D.C.) make it illegal to text and drive.
- 10 states (and D.C.) do not allow the use of cellphones while driving.
- 32 states (and D.C.) have a law that states that beginner drivers may not use their cell phones while driving.
